Native American

"Native American"", a compilation about the music of the Chreokees, Sioux, Apaches,.. It has a lot of flute, chants, hoop and war dances and even pow-wow drumming.

@Mary Youngblood : Native American Mary Youngblood, half Seminole and half Aleut, is the first woman to professionally record the Native American Flute, and the first woman to win not just one, but two Grammy Awards for "Best Native American Music Album".

@R. Carlos Nakai : Nakai, while cognizant of the traditional use of the flute as a solo instrument, began finding new settings for it, especially in the genres of jazz and classical. He founded the ethnic jazz ensemble, the R. Carlos Nakai Quartet, to explore the intersection of ethnic and jazz idioms.

@National Register of Historic Places : : The Ho-Chunk traditional powwow developed out of a number of different streams of American Indian religious and traditional revival moments that flourished in the late 19th century. One primary cultural influence for early Ho-Chunk powwow ceremonialism was the development and adoption by the Ho-Chunk of the so-called Drum Religion or Drum (Dream) Dance that emerged in the late 19th century among the mixed Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Potawatomi and Ojibwa communities of central and north-central Wisconsin

@Mustard Relics : Shit I think I used to bug people because every time they had something worth listening to I would beg, plead, demand that they dub me a copy. These recordings were from the 30’s and 40’s so the individuals playing and singing had a closer connection to this almost lost portion of their culture.
