Dubbing With The King >>

@Caipirinha Lounge : The last time I was there, which was about one year and a half ago, the singer Ary (signed to Heavy C’s label) was dominating the airwaves with the songs included below; since then, every time I’ve listened to her here in the States it reminds me of home and many nights of dancing kizomba to the sound of her music, especially her number one hit Como Te Sentes Tu. Saudades…

@Down There : Next is Kizomba, which is similar to Zouk in other parts of Africa. It's generally pretty cheesy and so less popular with the Western crowd, but this is what most Angolans love to dance...all night long. Most Western girls get freaked out dancing Kizomba with an Angolan, as it's a little more up close and personal than they're used to

@uma prova : : Kizomba music is generally slower than semba and also very romantic or sensual with the dance having a reputation as being quite technical. Kizomba is rooted in semba but also takes influence from Caribbean musics, specifically zouk. We've got a disc purchased on our last trip to Luanda called "Kizomba de Angola, disc 2" that's been in heavy rotation in the car this week (Big D loves it) with a nice melody turn on the lyric "Kuduro não da" (Kuduro won't do) about how semba's all right, kuduro is questionable, but kizomba -- kizomba is the way to be.

@Olamild Ent : Perola is Angola's pearl and a Kizomba singer. She was born Jandira Sassingu. In 2005, she won the best southern African musician at the Kora Awards. Her debut album was Meus Sentimentos with hits like "Angola", "Já não" and so on. Her second (13 track) album, Cara e Coroa (face & crown), was released 2 days ago.

@NationMaster.com : In Angola most clubs are based in Luanda. Famous Angolan kizomba musicians include Don Kikas, Calo Pascoal and Irmãos Verdade, among many others, but Bonga is probably the best known Angolan artist, having helped popularize the style both in Angola and Portugal during the 1970s and 1980s.

@museke : Matias Damasio is an Angolan musician. Some of his songs include A outra, Sempre Maria, Nana, Evita Problemas, Me beija, Dikindo, Esperança, Você não Acreditou, M'boa Gi, Angola (País Novo

@Chelsy Shantel on Myspace : : This 19-year-old teen is also the new talented singer emerging from the Ghetto Zouk music scene. The youngest of two sisters and a brother, Chelsy “Márcia Costa” Shantel was born in Portugal of African descendent parents from Angola.

@Don Kikas on Wikipedia : His third album, Xeque Mate, released in December 1999, produced a totally-renewed Don Kikas as it included songs recorded in three different countries and featured foreign musicians as well. Xeque Mate achieved gold sales and received Angola’s Album of the Year, Voice of the Year and Kizomba of the Year awards.
