@Discover the culture of the European regions : The name "muiñeira" (miller ) probably came from the people who danced inside and outside of the mills; while they waited for flour to be made from grain.

@Indopedia : : The Galician folk revival drew on early 20th century performers like Perfecto Feijoo, a gateiro and hurdy-gurdy player. The first commercial recording of Galician music had come in 1904, by a corale called Aires d'a Terra from Pontevedra. The middle of the century saw the rise of Ricardo Portela, who inspired many of the revivalist's performers, and played in influential bands like Milladoiro.

@Musical Traditions : The Pandeira - it could be defined as a big version of the pandeireta (frame drum or tambourine) - which was very popular all over Galicia at one time, is now only to be found in very few parts of the region. The instrument goes back many thousands of years, as it was played in Egypt and Asia Minor and was mentioned in the Bible on several occasions as timpano, the name by which it was also known in Latin, the language which served as a bridge between the original Hebrew and the Latin-based languages of today.

@Ceolas : "Milladoiro" is the Galician name for the heaps of stones built by shepherds. It is also the name of a Galician folk music band with some 15 years of history. Milladoiro play traditional Galician tunes, arranged to different instruments. They play as well compositions of their own and tunes of Breton, Scottish and Irish origin.

@Festival Músicas do Mundo : Twenty years of artistic career have made Uxía one of the most popular and valued voices in Galicia. Her songs are always tinged with the touch whether latent or explicit of traditional music, to which she gives her personal and innovative touch.

@Eye For Talent : : Faltriqueira is a female vocal group raised in A Coruña (Galicia). After five years of hard working on the melodic tradition of the pandereteiras (tambourine women players), these five young singers have put together a collection of traditional tunes in a modern style where voices mix with synthesizers and acoustic instruments such as fiddle, accordion, darboukas, txalapartas, cellos, and guitar.

@CD Roots : Berrogüetto's first record appeared on the musical scene in 1996. It was the beginning of an innovative group, with different and original ideas. Then came giving concerts in festivals, and their international tours through Galicia, Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, United Kingdom, confirming the vitality and prestige of a Galician group that was becoming, in a very short space if time, one of the most important "world music" groups in the world.
